The "New" Heart of Texas RV Park

Q & A with Lisa Selensky

We have our “dream” map developed and our destination defined-we are well on our way!

What can travelers expect when staying at the Heart of Texas RV Park?

The Heart of Texas RV Park is a cozy family-owned location in town, with an out-of-town feel, just minutes away from modern conveniences. Folks are so pleasantly surprised when they stay at our park—the experience of being around nature within city limits isn’t normally expected. However, the sounds of crickets at night and catching glimpses of native deer are very common here.

Tell me more about your journey of restoring the location, rebuilding the park’s reputation, and future plans.

The old park that was here no longer exists. Today, the Heart of Texas RV Park enjoys 5-star reviews, return customers, and even celebrity stays.

We have made many improvements to our infrastructure with freshly graveled roads, a clean and neat landscape that lights up at night, security cameras, and on-site offices. We’ve added additional pull-thru & back-in RV sites, and extended-stay guesthouses. The Park has a team on site, ready to serve our guests. This includes me and my husband, our property manager, Olive Harrison, and our work camping On-Site Park Hosts.

We are continuously renovating and enhancing the property, to the point that some view us as an attraction, driving through just to see what has changed this month-most recently. Currently, we are developing oversized Boutique RV spaces. These oversized lots, with additional parking slips, will include individual patio and garden spaces for seasonal guests’ enjoyment.

In the future, we have additional plans to develop nature trails, a dog run, an outdoor dog wash, a common outdoor game area, and maybe even a grown-up “splash” pool. Offering a spot to chill in the summer heat.

How many RV spaces does your park include, and what type of travelers can you accommodate?

The park hosts 23 RV sites and 3 Guesthouses. All RV sites feature full hookups, including 30 and 50-amp electrical, water-, and sewer connections, and free wifi. The “Texas Touring” section, located at the front of the park, includes all of our pull-thru sites and tree-shaded sites, which are ideal for travelers passing thru, attending local events, hunting, visiting family, or needing a hub from which to tour the hill country’s many attractions.

In the Bluebonnet Park area, we offer back-in sites nestled into a natural setting along with our Park Host site. The Open Sky “Big Rig” section hosts extra wide or long sites with no overhanging trees. These sites are perfect for 45-foot “monster” RVs. They additionally appeal to seasonal or extended-stay guests such as full-time RVers, traveling medical workers, or temporary contract workers. The park’s fully furnished Guesthouses are available for short-term or extended stays and can comfortably accommodate 4-6 persons. Reservations can extend from the weekend up to six months (or more), providing non-RV visitors, house hunters/renovators, temporary nurses, or contract workers with a comfortable, convenient “home-like” stay.

What amenities or special features does the Heart of Texas RV Park provide for its guest?

The Cactus Community House offers support to guests with an on-site laundry area, a shower room, and an online store. It has a dedicated space with a TV that can be utilized for activities such as stretching/yoga exercises or movie/sports game night. There is a collection of games and puzzles that can be enjoyed in the common room. Additionally, there is a lending library open to all guests to take advantage of as well. We encourage the use of the facility for bible studies and other guest/community activities.
